Working for DEA as an Intelligence Research Specialist is an everyday glorious challenge. When I applied for this job, I never thought that I would become the warrior that I am today, battling against the toughest dangers that face our nation: drugs and terrorism. A typical workday could encompass the interviewing of an informant, the preparation of a case summary or the honorable duty of representing DEA at a multi-national conference, briefing law enforcement officials from a myriad of U.S. federal, state and local agencies or other countries. In support of DEA investigations I also prepare written reports, criminal organizational charts and grand jury presentations. However, what I enjoy the most is briefing prosecutors, participating in the gathering of evidence during the execution of search warrants, and testifying in court.

Being an expert in the complex field of intelligence has afforded me with the opportunity of traveling to numerous countries where I have worked with and trained DEA law enforcement counterparts. My experience in law enforcement has also taken me to schools and neighborhood community centers, where I have been privileged to educate children and adolescents on the physical and social effects of drugs.

I am proud to work for DEA, not for its standing as the world's leading anti-narcotics agency, but for the values it embraces. Our mission is twofold; to protect and to prevent. In a time in history where it seems that crime is an easy avenue to obtain money and power, DEA is devoted to put criminals in jail. More importantly, to protect our children who are exposed to drugs and violence on a daily basis, DEA is committed to provide the information and support necessary to help them make all the right choices.

Being at my desk, testifying in court as an expert witness or speaking at a state or national convention, I can assure you that there is never a dull moment.and at the end of the day, the greatest satisfaction of all is knowing that I have made a difference.
