When you're a teen, sometimes it feels like the only one who understands you is another teen. Peers know what you're dealing with—we face the pressures of school, social life and family every day like you do. We know what it's like to have to make decisions, including decisions about trying or taking drugs.
We're a group of teens who have volunteered to answer your questions, and hear your concerns about drugs. We're representatives of DARE's Youth Advisory Committee and we want to know what's on your mind.

My name is Jade, and I live in Oklahoma. I'm a 16 year-old high school junior. I am involved in my church youth group, Fellowship of Christians Athletes, as well as Business Professionals of America Leadership, and I am a cheerleader. I've been on the D.A.R.E. Youth Advisory Board for a year. D.A.R.E. is a very important part of my life, and the program has opened my eyes to how dangerous drugs really are. I hope you will join me in pledging your life to be drug free. READ MORE ABOUT JADE>>
Hello, my name is Miranda, and I am from Kentucky. I am a junior at Bourbon County High School, where I am actively involved in several clubs, such as SHH, Pep club, and I am the junior Class President of the Student Government. Outside of school, I dance at my local dance school, where I am on the competition team. In my state, D.A.R.E. typically starts in the elementary schools and sometimes the kids continue on with the program in middle school. As a D.A.R.E. Youth Advisory Board member, I attend local graduations, classes and my state D.A.R.E. convention each year.
I’m a high school senior and live in California. I play basketball and black light volleyball. When I’m not in school or playing sports, I’m usually reading, hanging with friends, or going to concerts. My plan after high school is to attend a four-year college to study green engineering. I’ve been pressured to drink. When it happened, I simply said that my parents would ground me for life if I did it. I also said that I’m just not into it. I want the best future I can have, and drinking wouldn't help. If I could keep one person from ever wanting to misuse drugs or alcohol, then being part of D.A.R.E. was a success.
Hello, my name is Lauren, and I am from New Jersey. I am a junior in high school this year. My favorite subjects are Math, Science and Spanish, though I enjoy all of my classes. School is very important to me. In my free time, I take Ballroom Dance lessons, and I compete with my partner. I also figure skate; I don't compete anymore, but I still love to skate. I love listening to almost all types of music, and I like to spend time with my friends and family. When I go to college, I want to study business and finance, Spanish and other fields of math and science. D.A.R.E. has influenced my life by making me aware of the drug problem around the country. I have learned so much because of the D.A.R.E. Program, and with this knowledge, I make educated decisions and want to help others make educated decisions as well.
Hi! My name is Amber and I am a 16 year old junior in high school. I’m very involved in my community in Connecticut, where I meet and talk to all types of people. I see so much going on with my peers, especially, and how all of our lives have become affected by drugs, alcohol, and violence. Although I choose to stay drug and alcohol free, I still have many friends and loved ones who haven’t made that choice. As a result, I know the effects that drugs can have on you. So, one of my main goals right now is to help my peers make positive choices in life. I’d love to help you make one of those positive decisions or help you help someone else! So please, if you have any questions you’d like to ask, FEEL FREE! I’d love to hear from you. Hey, that’s what I’m here for, right?! READ MORE ABOUT AMBER>>
